Course: Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work

Course Duration: 1 day

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide suitable first-aid equipment, facilities and personnel to enable immediate assistance to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work.

Course Content:

  • Role of a First Aider
  • Hygiene Measures
  • Recording incidents and actions
  • Assess the situation and how to act safely, promptly and effictively in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to an unconscious casualty ( including a seizure)
  • Administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Adminster first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Adminster first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Adminster first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)

Course: Level 3 First Aid at Work

Course Duration: 3 days

Course Overview:

In accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience. The First Aid at Work course is run over three days and includes both theory and practical sessions.

  • Role of a First Aider
  • Hygiene Measures
  • Recording incidents and actions
  • Assess the situation and how to act safely, promptly and effictively in an emergency
  • Recognition and appropriate treatment of:
  • An unconscious casualty (breathing and non breathing)
  • A casualty who is choking
  • A casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • A casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Eye injuries
  • Sudden poisoning
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Heart, Stroke, Epilepsy, Asthma and Diabetes
